Much has been made recently of Marco Rubio’s shaky financial situation. Apparently, he has failed to “cash in” on his political connections.
For example, Nancy Pelosi became a multi-millionaire during her tenure in Congress.
Hilary Clinton, who allegedly was living in poverty when she left the White House, is now worth $100 million.
The talking heads on TV always talk about a “quid pro quo”, a “high” burden to prove, but that is not required by law. A US company cannot give large gifts to the husband of a major government official, even without an explicit quid pro quo. Apparently, the law does not apply in the other direction.
